Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers(スーパーストリートファイターII：新しい挑戦 Sūpā Sutorīto Faitā II: Atarashī Chōsen?) is a head-to-head fighting game produced byCapcom originally released as a coin-operated arcade game in 1993. It is the fourth game in the Street Fighter II sub-series of Street Fightergames, following Street Fighter II' Turbo: Hyper Fighting. In addition to refining and balancing the existing character roster from the previous versions, Super Street Fighter II also introduced four new characters. It was also the first game to be developed on Capcom '​sCP System II hardware, which permitted more sophisticated graphics and audio over the original CP System hardware used in previous versions of Street Fighter II.

Super Street Fighter II was followed by Super Street Fighter II Turbo, a fifth version of Street Fighter II released the following year, which further refined the balance between characters and introduced additional new features.

Development was handled by Nintendo Entertainment Analysis and Development, led by Shigeru Miyamoto, who produced the game.

The game centers on the quest of Mario andLuigi to save Dinosaur Land from Bowser, the series' antagonist. The two brothers must travel across seven worlds to restore order to Dinosaur Land. It built on the gameplay of previous Mario games, introducing newpower-ups that augment character abilities, and established conventions that were carried over to future games in the series. Super Mario World marks the first appearance ofYoshi, Mario's dinosaur sidekick and riding mount.

The game is loosely based on the 1991 television American film Adventures in Dinosaur City by Smart Egg Pictures, and borrows many of the film's characters, settings, and basic plot while providing its own unique art direction and style. Initially released in July 1992 for Japanese audiences, the game was later made available in North America the following September. The game centers on Timmy and his friend Jamie, two young children who are accidentally transported to a world resembling prehistoric Earth populated by anthropomorphicdinosaurs. While a device which will allow them to return home exists in this environment, a critical component has been stolen by Mr. Big, leader of a gang of Neanderthals known as The Rockeys, leaving the player to guide Timmy or Jamie to his castle to retrieve it. They are assisted by Rex, a Tyrannosaurus, and Tops, a Protoceratops, each with their own play-styles.
